CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP LEAGUE SYSTEM 2007/08 SEASON

SCORING (back to top)

There are twelve Club Championship events, (six at 5 miles or 10k distance and six at 10 miles or half-marathon distance). Each race scores points towards the championship. The first person home scores 60 points, the second 59 and so on.

The amount of points awarded may have to be altered at some time due to the possibility of more than 60 members entering races. This can only be at the discretion of the Fixtures Secretary.

The scoring of points is independent of which League you are in, or who else from your League takes part.

In the event of a tie between 2 or more runners in a race when our club timekeepers cannot separate them, they will be awarded the same number of points.

For example…

Runner no. 1 39-16 60 points

Runner no. 2 39-50 59 points

Runner no. 3 39-50 59 points

Runner no. 4 39-55 57 points

The final Championship scores are made up of the points scored for your best six races, plus a bonus of 3 points for every event completed after the sixth event.

Each member will receive 3 points for every Cross-country event he/she finishes. When we hold our own Cross-country event in the League, every member who helps with marshalling etc. of our event also receives 3 points towards their Championship total.

In the event of a tie between winners or runners-up of each League, the final result will depend on who holds the most higher finishing positions.

There will be a 3 point bonus gained by running a P.B.or Age P.B. in a Ware Joggers League Championship race.

CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP (back to top)

In order to score points in the Club Championship, a member MUST wear official club vest or T-shirt as the outermost garment, i.e. red and white vest with club name and motif printed on the front (or club T-shirt). Red shorts should be worn in the summer. Red ‘Tracksters' are acceptable during the winter months.

New members may be excused the Club Kit Rule only if they have ordered but not received their club kit and only at the Fixtures Secretaries discretion. They must be officially registered in the race under their own name.

Membership must be up to date.

PROMOTION, RELEGATION AND AWARDS (back to top)

The two highest point's scorers from each league are League Champion and Runner-up, and if in leagues B, C, D, or E they are promoted to the next League. The bottom two people in Leagues A, B, C, or D may be relegated to the next League.

Only members who have run and finished in at least 6 races in the Championship can qualify for the ‘two up, two down' rule at the end of the race season.

I.E. The top two finishers in League B, C, D, and E go up one League, the bottom two finishers in Leagues A, B, C and D may go down one League.

NOTE. Relegation to a lower League may also be dependant on your time qualification of your previous seasons race time, as the League you are placed in initially is determined by your 10k race times. Relegation and Promotion is at the discretion of the Fixtures Secretary.

Any club member complying with Club Championship guidelines can score points in any of the Club Championship races.

TREBLES LEAGUE (back to top)

This involves 3 runners of mixed ability to form a team who take part in the League Championship races.

The 4 highest scoring races of team member 1 are added together with the 4 highest scoring races of team members 2 and 3 making 12 scoring races in total. Team members do not have to participate in the same race to score.

Additionally: if all 3 team members take part and finish in the same Club Championship League race then an additional 3 points will be awarded to that teams score. 3 points will be awarded to each team member who takes part and finishes in a Cross-Country League race. 3 points are awarded for PBs and APBs.

The way the Trebles are arranged into teams of three is entirely at the discretion of the Fixtures Secretary.
